International Qualification in IT Training

Gain an Internationally recognised training qualification, a ‘quality mark’ which will acknowledge and certify your training competence.

The CTP programmes, the Certification Programme and the Development Programme, are currently offered in a limited number of training centres across the country.  Westgate Computer Centre was selected as one of these centres in May 2006 and presented with the certificate at the ICS-Skills conference in the RDS.

Elizabeth Browne, Manager of Westgate Computer Centre, receiving the Accreditation Certificate to deliver CTP training from Jim Friars, CEO ICS-Skills in May 2006.

Benefits of CTP

*             There is an increased reliance on IT in the workplace which means that there will be increased demand for IT trainers who hold professional training qualifications.

*             FAS funding of up to 70% is available to eligible individuals who wish to undertake the CTP Programmes in Westgate Computer Centre.

*             Holders of CTP can be included on the FAS/EI Register of Trainers

*             CTP is an ECDL Foundation Certification Programme.

*             Holders of CTP ensure that the highest training standards are adhered to in the training organisations for which they work.

*             CTP is a quality mark in IT training.

*             CTP is an internationally recognised official qualification.

*             Training organisations will be able to evaluate and benchmark trainers’ competence.

*             CTP is an improved standard of individual training performance.

Despite the rigorous application of international standards on all aspects of administering the ECDL, there had, until the development of CTP, been little control over the provision of classroom-based training by individual trainers and training organisations.

With CTP, candidates can now evaluate which training provider offers the best training solution for their needs, as certified, competent trainers promote their services on the basis of the quality of the IT training being offered.

CTP defines an objective standard for instructor led training, and provides a mechanism for IT trainers to have their competence recognised and certified.

The Certified Training Professional qualification is the quality mark for IT training, and offers candidates the assurance of Professional training delivery. Holders of CTP are differentiated on the basis of quality of their work, and have the benefit of using the CTP logo and branding to promote their training.

Wexford Man First e-Citizen in the Country

John O’Connor became Ireland’s first official e-Citizen when he was recenJon O'Connor with from left to right Elizabeth Browne, Manager and Jean Larkin, Trainertly awarded his eCITIZEN certificate here in Westgate Computer Centre, Wexford. John, who already holds ECDL certification, was delighted with his achievement and particularly with the news that he was the country’s first recipient of the award. Although the programme was developed for candidates with limited knowledge of computers and John holds ECDL, he still found the programme extremely worthwhile. The syllabus focuses on the internet and email – two areas that John wanted to increase his knowledge in. With new areas of study to focus on John felt sufficiently challenged by the content and felt its practical nature will prove to be very useful.

A further 20 candidates are currently undergoing e-Citizen in Westgate Computer Centre. Centre Manager Elizabeth Browne has said -hat feedback on the programme has been very positive. Comments from these candidates include “I’ve learned a lot and gained the confidence to buy on the internet and find loads of valuable information.”, “the training has been most helpful, the fear I had is now gone” and “I paid my motor tax online!” One candidate, who is in her eighties, even went online to vote on a recent Ryan Tubridy Radio Show poll and was delighted that her new found knowledge enabled her to do so.
