Overview

ECDL ImageMaker is a new certification designed to give you the basic skills required to use and manipulate digital images.

Image Fundamentals

  • Understand the main concepts of digital images
  • Understand and use a digital image editing application
  • Identify key features of digital images, including pixels and resolution
  • Define and understand copyright issues
  • Define and understand common colour models
  • Understand terms including hue, saturation, colour balance, palette, colour depth, transparency, contrast, brightness and gamma
  • Define and understand graphic formats inlcuding raster and vector graphics, lossless formats and lossy formats

Transferring Images to Computer

  • Scanning Images
  • Upload Images from a digital camera
  • Downloading Images from the Web

Manipulating Images

  • Use settings and set grid properties
  • Open, capture and save an image
  • Select all or part of an image and set selection tool properties
  • Manipulate an image by resizing, rotating, duplicating, moving or cropping
  • Understand and use layers
  • Add and manipulate text
  • Create drawn objects
  • Paint on an image using the dropper, gradient, paintbrush or eraser tools
  • Apply effects and filters using artistic, blur, distortion or render effects tools

Printing

  • Prepare an image for printing or publishing on the World Wide Web
