Wexford
Information Networks for the Community
Westgate Computer
Centre, WINC Ltd, is a Wexford County Council
initiative established to
create access for the
citizens of Wexford to the Information Age and
to equip them with the
necessary skills to access, shape and gain
competitive advantage from the global
information super-highway.
The centre commenced
trading in November 1999 and is an Accredited
Test Centre for ECDL. The centre
and all its trainers are also on the newly
updated FAS Register of Trainers.
We aim to help create a
skilled workforce in Wexford with the provision
of IT training programmes that are industry accredited. We put a particular emphasis on providing
access to IT for individuals, groups and
communities from areas of disadvantage, in order
to narrow the gap between those who have and
those who have not.
The benefits from
fuller participation in the Information Age
include gaining access to and the ability
to use IT to improve the quality of life of
individuals and the community, to acquire skills
to improve economic independence, and to provide
social inclusion for those who are marginalized
in society.
With a growing IT
dependency in the global economy, people who
want to change jobs or accelerate their career paths, or gain entry to the
job market are finding it necessary to routinely
update their skill sets.
We have a team of
committed, skilled and experienced trainers that
have both the technical and people traits required to provide a high level
of training in a pleasant atmosphere.

Evaluations - 2007/2008
"Couldn't be happier, great course and teacher".
Bruce Shiel, CAD - FETAC Level 5
"Our tutor was very patient and came around to
everyone and answered all our questions".
Marelle Dunne, Internet Retired.
"The ECDL course was very informative and the
tutors extremely helpful."
Colleen O'Brien, ECDL.
"I think the ECDL is an excellent course for
anyone who wants to go on and do computers when
they leave school just like I did. I would
highly recommend the course to anyone and I
would highly recommend Westgate Computer Centre
as the place to do it. It was a very happy
experience".
Robert Agar. ECDL.
"Excellent, I regret that course has come to an
end and have booked a future course".
Diane O'Hara, Retired.
"Enjoyed every minute of it. Learned lots.
Great trainer!"
Marian Keyes, Pre ECDL.
"The course was excellent. Before the
course I was afraid to turn on a computer in
case I lost everything on it. Now I can
send and receive emails, create documents etc".
Philip Roche, Pre ECDL.
"Was fearful of attending but found course
excellent due to wonderful tutor".
Una Murphy, Retired.
"We refer many people who are unemployed and
people with special needs to Westgate Computer
Centre. Our clients have been very happy
with the standard of instruction and learning
atmosphere in the centre. Westgate is
committed to helping people with disabilities
and ran courses for people with hearing
difficulties last year. I and my
colleagues in employment services are very happy
with the quality of their work".
Margaret Fitzpatrick, FAS Employment Services.
"Westgate Computer Centre has provided, and
continues to provide, training courses to the
staff of Wexford County Council. As Staff
Training Officer, I have direct responsibility
for identifying and sourcing staff training and
have found that the training provided by the
Centre is of a very high quality and also very
good value for money. It is a requirement
of our training policy that all course
participants complete a Course Evaluation Form
and return them to me for analysis once training
has been completed. These forms are very
positive and confirm that training objectives
have been met".
Marie Thorpe, Staff Training Officer, Wexford
County Council.
"Our tutor has such patience and a great
store of wisdom which she shares with such
competence. A born educator".
Josephine
Desmond Fitzgerald. ECDL.
