Accessibility Statement

At Westgate Computer Centre, we want our website to be accessible for everybody. The web pages are designed to be easy to use and the information is structured in a meaningful way, allowing easy navigation.

HTML and Accessibility

Westgate Computer Centre is committed to providing web pages that are accessible to all our users, including users with disabilities. To this end, we are working towards complying with Double-A (AA) accessibility under the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 1.0 of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

At a technical level, we have used XHTML 1.0 and CSS that conform to specification, as laid out by the W3C, and pages are designed to validate as DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional. We have adhered to these standards because we believe that usability and accessibility must have a solid foundation.

We have also endeavoured to achieve AA accessibility as measured against version 1.0 of the WCAG and the Irish National Disability Authority Guidelines for Web Accessibility. We are aware, however, that a number of the checkpoints of the WCAG are subjective and, although we have attempted to meet them fully and in good faith, there may be instances where interpretation may vary.

Browser compatibility

You can view this website on a wide range of browsers. However, we have designed our site for optimal viewing on the following browsers:

• PCs: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 and upwards, Firefox version 1.5 and upwards
• Macs: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 and upwards, Firefox version 1.5 and upwards, Safari 2.0 and upwards

Scalable font size

We have developed our website with scalable fonts. In most modern browsers, the 'text size' option can be found and changed in the 'view' menu in the top left of the browser window.
