ECDL
Certification: ECDL
Duration: 60 hours
Audience
Anyone who has completed a beginner's or intermediate level computer course or who has a sound knowledge of computer basics.
Everybody needs IT skills. A certain amount of IT skills and competency is required for most jobs. An ECDL qualification proves you have these skills and competencies and that you have the ability to play your part. The ECDL is recognised as the standard definition of practical competence in Information Technology. It is for anyone who wants to certify their computer skills according to a pan-European industry standard. Employers regard the ECDL as the benchmark they expect from their employees as it dispels any vagueness in your professed experience or in your job specifications. You either have the licence or you don't.
Certify Your Skills - the ECDL:
- Is a passport to employment.
- Information Technology (ECDL) skills tend to be among the first thing potential employers look for on a candidate's CV.
- Is available to everyone.
- It is a recognition of your knowledge of standard business computer applications.
- It opens the door to the world of Information Technology.
- It is a detailed statement of real computer skills.
- For the employer, it is a precise definition of a job applicant's or employee's skills.
- It gives people a goal to aim towards and a yardstick by which to measure computing abilities.
Remember that ECDL qualifications and courses are not designed for people who want to be computer professionals - programmers, software developers or web designers for example. They are more aimed at those who need to use computer applications to do their job, especially people who work in office type environments. So the ECDL concentrates on the basic uses of computers, and common applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and using the Internet and Email. This situation doesn't look like changing any time soon, so IT skills are going to get even more important for everyone. An ECDL qualification will teach you the basics, make you more employable, and ensure that you are not left behind.
