Computer Aided Draughting (2D)
Certification: FETAC 5
Duration: 10 wks x 3 hrs
Aims
- Become familiar with CAD design software packages
- Be confident users of computer design technology
- Be able to use computer-aided draughting from the stage of early design concepts to hardcopy working drawings
- Develop safe working practices when using the computer and be aware of legislation covering software licensing and data protection
Assessment for FETAC accreditation is by Collection of Work (50%) and Project (50%).
The Specific Learning Outcomes are grouped as four units.
- CAD Software
- Edit Commands
- Application of Blocks
- Use of Multiple Layers.
CAD Software
- Manipulate design software, create template drawing sheet
- Operate settings to include limits, grid, snap and scale
- Demonstrate drawing commands using various geometrical constructions
Edit Commands
- Demonstrate a range of edit commands
- Change the properties of a drawing
- Demonstrate hatching, hatching irregular boundaries and hatching edits
- Input plines and pedit, set up dimensioning and use variables and styles
- Demonstrate dimensioning
Application of Blocks
- Demonstrrate the use of blocks in a CAD drawing
- Create, insert and write a block to file
- The use of attributes and rescaling of both 'X' and 'Y' axis
- Explode a block
Use of Multiple Layers
- Demonstrate the use of layers in a CAD drawing
- Create three layers and plat any individual layer
- Demonstrate different properties on each layer
- Set layer linetypes and colur changes
- Freeze and thaw layers
Software used - AutoCAD Light.
